Jack and Sally were running through the woods together when they stopped suddenly. They heard a strange sound coming from around the corner.
“What's that?” asked Jack.
Sally put her finger to her lips and said, “Shhhh. Let's go find out.”

sound until they came to a clearing. In the middle of the clearing was a big tree with a hole in it. The sound was coming from inside the hole.
“What’s that sound?” asked Sally.
“I don’t know,” said Jack. “Let’s go closer and take a look.”
When they got to the tree, they saw a little bird inside the hole. The bird was making the strange sound.
“Hello, little bird,” said Sally. “Why are you making that sound?”
The bird stopped making the sound and said, “I’m deaf. I can’t hear the sounds around me.”
Jack and Sally felt sorry for the bird. They wanted to help it.
“We can help you,” said Jack.
“Thank you,” said the bird.
Jack and Sally found some sticks and leaves and made a little nest for the bird. They put the nest in the tree and the bird was very happy.
“Thank you,” said the bird.
“You’re welcome,” said Jack and Sally.
